Losing weight: it’s a long-term goal for most people. You may be the skinniest pupil in class when you were in your teens. You may even be slim in your twenties. But by the time you reach your thirties, things have started to change. You metabolism rate has slowed down and you started to discover a little flab here and there.
Losing of your love handles and spare weight isn’t just a physical game. It’s a mind and body affair. It’s something that you can’t win without preparing both physical and mental state.
Most of us find losing weight a vicious cycle. You want to lose your excess fat, but seeing yourself everyday in the mirror still sporting the weight you want to lose is dismaying. So instead of getting motivated to lose the weight, you lose the motivation to get fit, thus leading you to gain some more weight.
Perhaps you’re one of those who have tested every diet and workout plan out there. You may even have swallowed several slimming pills and miracle products available in the market. But no matter what you do, your fat still won’t budge. And you wonder what you are doing wrong.
There are two things you may lack: discipline and consistency. You can’t keep up with the exercise program you set yourself. And if after a little while things don’t work out, you turn to another physical fitness program even before you could see if that was really effective. If boredom if preventing you from sticking to your schedule, then change it to a more challenging plan, such as ballroom dancing or tennis playing. If motivation is your problem, then give yourself a non-threatening reward every after you complete a workout. Non-threatening rewards may include a trip to the shopping center or watching movies, and not an extra serving of dessert.
If you still can’t lose the fats, how about giving yourself your own stimulus plan? Instead of rewarding yourself after every time you lose weight, maybe giving yourself a reward before you even start working out will work.
As brought up, losing weight is a cruel cycle that affects both body and mind. So if you merely keep getting more depressed each time you step into the weighing scale, give yourself a leaner body even before you begin your physical fitness plan.
You can enroll into a fitness program that helps lose weight faster or ask a physician to remove all your fats for you. After losing the pounds, then start exercising. You can do to see yourself in a thinner frame, thus giving you an idea that you in a perfect figure is feasible. This will give you an optimistic attitude to exercise, and will help you get motivated to maintain your body.
A word of advice, though. This type of incentive plan shouldn’t be abused. You are giving yourself a stimulus package to put a stop to the cruel cycle you may be in and begin a healthier phase. Don’t rely on it each time you gain an extra weight. It will defeat your entire purpose of losing weight to stay healthy.
