Green Express couriers promotes clean air campaign

If you live near a busy international airport, you like to travel and you can do so at a moments notice then working as a freelance air courier could be the career for you.

The role of an air courier is very much like the role of a motorcycle courier except you don’t need to wear a crash helmet. You are hired to carry an item to a specified destination, usually within a specific time period.

The items that you are asked to carry can vary enormously but generally they are items that can’t be trusted to the postal system or normal cargo courier services. These may be legal, signed documents, business contracts, letters and the like. The sender needs to be certain they are handed to a specific person or business and they are happy to hire your services to get the documents to where they need to be. I’ve also carried computer disks, medication that had been left at home and some machine parts required for a prototype in Germany.

In recent months I’ve flown to various places in Europe, the middle and far east and north america. Living near to Heathrow airport in London means that I can be ready to travel in no time at all.

There aren’t many of the big courier companies who employ full time air couriers. This has brought opportunities fro freelance air couriers like me.

The various courier companies who I freelance for will generally give me a call. When I’ve confirmed that I am available to carry out the job they go ahead and book my flight, letting me know when I need to be at the airport.

Generally, a representative from the courier company will meet me at the airport, give me my ticket and hand over the item that I shall be transporting. They will generally have already checked me in which saves a lot of time. A bonus is that I generally get to travel in first class.

I don’t need to contact anyone at the destination either. This is usually carried out by the courier company and I’m generally met at the airport where I hand over the items and get a signed receipt.

I’ve generally been on a return flight home soon after completing the handover, but I sometimes stay overnight or longer.

Working as a freelance air courier is a great job if you are over eighteen, have a valid passport with no travel restrictions and you can be ready to go at a moments notice.

For great savings on Heathrow parking or Gatwick parking always book in advance. Don’t forget to make certain you have the right travel insurance before you go.
