Image Creation By Various Printer Types

Posted by: Patricia Connor   in Internet

Choosing a printer will depend on what purpose it is going to serve. If the idea is to print architectural drawings, then this will require a different type of machine than that of a photography studio. These fabulous machines are available in a wide range of styles, which are described in the list below.

Bubble-jet Printers-This machine uses plates that are magnetized, which enables the spray direction of the ink to be controlled. With the help of these plates, the ink is guided into particular patterns on the paper. High quality images produced are similar to those created by laser printers.

Dye Sublimation Printers- The procedure of sublimation is when a substance changes from a liquid to a gas. These printers change liquid ink to a gas with heat and then transfers the image to the paper. The amount of heat needed for the transfer is dependent on the quantity of ink required for the image. The paper is fairly expensive for these units, but the quality is very high for photographs.

Dot-matrix Printers-Images are produced in a way similar to that of a typewriter. There are numerous metal pins, closely placed, and an ink ribbon. Written documents are usually the only items created with this machine, the quality isn’t high enough for printing of photographs.

Bubble-jet Printers-Magnetized plates are used to control the direction of ink sprays into specific patterns on the paper. These generally produce images of extremely high quality and are comparable to laser printers.

Laser Printers-A laser projects an image onto the drum, which is then rolled in ink. Heat and pressure are added to the ink laden drum, causing the transfer of the image to the paper. These machines are extremely fast and available in both color and black and white.

Solid Ink Printers- Wax ink sticks are liquefied into specific reservoirs, where the ink can be sprayed onto a drum. There isn’t any heat or pressure involved with this machine, it is only a cold-fusion process. It takes just one pass across the paper for the image to be transferred. These machines are very reliable, due to their lack of an excessive number of components.

Plotters- Architectural blue prints are created with these machines, with the use of two kinds of plotters. The flatbed plotters lay out the horizontal layers, while the drum plotters add the vertical layers.

All of the machines mentioned above come in a variety of price ranges and with many different functions. With all the variations, be sure to purchase the proper printing machine for the correct print job. It would greatly defeat the purpose of buying a printer if a plotter was chosen for the transfer of photographic images.
