If you are thinking about retiring, give it some careful thought first. Make sure it is really, what you want to do. There is no set age you have to retire at, but as long as you think you have worked enough and have enough money to live on, you should be able to retire whenever you want to.
If you can afford to retire, congratulations. There are a lot more things you can do now with your time. You can do just about what you want, whenever you want. That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
When you retire, that means you will likely get some money from the company you have worked with for a number of years. Whether it is a lot of money, a little money, or none at all really depends on your situation. You have to figure out whether or not you have enough money to retire based upon your own situation.
Retirement is normally what people look forward to when they realize that they are not getting any younger. Age is not something we can control and although some of us can still do many energetic things at an elderly age, others cannot. If you can no longer work, how are you supposed to live? With your retirement money, of course!
When you retire, you can likely go places you have wanted to see for many years. Now’s the time. Go ahead, and take a holiday in whatever place you choose, such as renting out a beach house for six months. Or, perhaps you want to move from the place you have lived for so many years and start a new life in an entirely new place.
Once you retire, if you want to, you can start an entirely new career; some people do indeed do this and do very well. If you do not want to start a new career or even have any type of job, though, that is fine as long as you can financially afford not to work. Go ahead and relax, doing as you please, for the remainder of your life. You deserve it; you have worked hard. Now’s the time to do what you want to do, not what someone else wants you to do. With no boss anymore, you are entirely driven by your free will.
If you want to wake up before the sun rises and go fishing every morning, then by all means, go! If you would rather work in the garden, clean the pool, go jogging, take a trip, go sailing, go diving or bungee jumping, then that is what you should do! Now is the time to do all those things you were never able to do before.
This is your chance, take advantage of it! Do not feel bad because you are not working. It is thanks to all those years of your hard work that you are able to do this now. If it was not for you working as hard as you did you would never be able to go on retirement and do what you want.
Retirement is the way to go if you feel that you are ready for it. As long as you know that, you are going to be okay and you will not run out of money any time soon you should be fine. You do not want to take your retirement early and in two years time you are broke.
You have to be sure that you are financially ready for retirement in order to take it. You also have to be emotionally ready for it and 100% sure that you are ready to do whatever you want to with your days. Retiring is a huge step for anyone, but if you know you are ready and you know it is what you wants to do, then why wait? If you have given this a lot of thought and you know what is what you want with no waffling, then you are ready to do it.
And make no mistake. You do not have to be 80 when you retire. You can do it when you are younger, too. Be reasonable, though, because you do not want to just sit around for 50 years with nothing to do. And unless you know you are going to have enough money to live on for the rest of your life, you do not want to retire, either. It should not be a hasty decision, but instead should be one where you know what you will be doing, you will know you will have enough money, and you know it is what you want. If you need to, talk to someone who has done it before you decide it is the thing for you.
Retirement is all about fun and finally being able to do what you want to do, with no one and nothing (especially not work) stopping you. There is no reason why you cannot go to an island and lie in a hammock reading a book all day. If your family and finances allow it then there should be no other reason why you have not left yet.
