Water Softening For Safe Drinking Water

Posted by: Lan Turner   in Health and Well Being

by David Cassell

With tropical diseases such as Typhoid, Cholera and Dysentery looming over people’s heads especially in the tropical countries, there is a need to come up with proper preventive measures. The pathogens that cause the above diseases are usually found in unsafe drinking waters. Boiling water before you drink it does kill the germs, but your body in that case does not benefit from the soluble minerals that are found in the water when it’s distilled. There are many ways in which water can be purified and made fit for consumption. That’s why water filtration is getting to be a much favorable solution to this problem.

A water softener is a unit that is used to remove minerals that cause hardening by removing their positively charged ions. A good softener will last for a long time and may only require occasional additions of salt to maintain effectiveness. Water softening for the purposes of availing safe drinking water can be accomplished by various means. The most effective of these is the use of a water softening unit connected directly to the water supply. Water filter cartridges can be used to this effect as they contain zeolite, which replaces the magnesium and calcium ions with sodium ions.

Granular activated carbon filtration method is considered the best since the carbon removes the harmful substances such as chlorine which is found in most of the water we use at home. Hard water can be made safe for drinking by softening it since it contains calcium and magnesium ions. Water softeners can also be used to cleanse drinking water. Water filter cartridges can be used to soften hard water by replacing the harmful ions of calcium and magnesium with sodium ion. The zeolite component in the water filter cartridges helps to purify or soften the water.

Bottled water may not be 100% safe for drinking. Most companies use such water treatment method for their bottled water. There are some places where the water is normally warm and contains salt. A filtering medium and a softener are mostly used to cleanse it then it is cooled by use of water coolers. From here it is taken to the bottled water delivery system for bottling before being distributed for sale hence note that the water in bottles that you normally buy may not be very safe for drinking as such.

Filtration of water has been identified as an effective way of treating water. A type of filtration known as reverse osmosis where water is passed through small porous materials thus coming out clean has a degree of success but is not fool proof. The best home water filtration system has been found to be in the use of two processes .These are kinetic degradation fluxion (KDF) process media and Granular activated carbon where harmful particles and bacteria in water are attracted by the carbon thereby leaving the water safe.

by Bobbie McKee

Ever heard the line, dress to impress? Well, you probably do that when you are going out shopping or to a party. But did you know that people who work have to do that everyday to maintain a professional atmosphere among their co-employees? If they are not able to, it is best to hire an image consultant that specializes in fashion.

An image consultant who specializes in fashion is hired to improve how someone looks as this also affects how he or she feels about themselves and their relationship with others. You won’t be only giving advice on what clothes to wear but also what kind of hairstyle, makeup and accessories should go with it so you there is consistency from top to bottom.

To work well in this profession, you have to be up to date that with the trends in the fashion industry. This will allow you to figure out what a person can wear based on their budget.

Some of the people you will be dealing include business executives, celebrities, company employees and in some cases, teenagers.

While some have decided to make this a private practice, many of these individuals work in department stores and retail chains who give advice to people who drop by and ask if the shirt or dress they are trying out looks good on them or not.

As an image consultant, not everyone you work with will have a perfect figure. Some are thin while others are big and fat and since everyone needs to have a unique image to provide positive self-esteem, you have to work with what you have to make it happen.

If the image consultant decides to help the client, he or she will first discuss their current wardrobe. From there, you can already show samples of possible alternatives for accessories, clothing and styles. Once the client buys everything, all you need to know is follow up how things are going by visiting them once or twice a year.

When you give advice, you must be sensitive to their needs, respect their individual taste and lifestyle. You can even go with the client to the mall so you can see what they are trying out to prevent them from buying something that isn’t right for them.

Being an image consultant for one client is different with another. You just have to things on a case to case basis then work from there.

But the first step to become an image consultant that specializes in fashion is to get formal training and certification. You may get that by enrolling in a diploma program in fashion merchandising or participate in other courses offered by private firms that want to promote this as a noble profession.

Some of these individuals first start out by working for a private company and then decide to open their own business. This means you will be the one to manage the business and a host of other things aside from making client calls.

You have to spend a bit to advertise your services as an image consultant. Put an ad in the newspaper, print out some flyers, create a website, pay for a poster or billboard. When the phone rings, set an appointment date and then meet up with the client.

Porcelain and Composite Veneers Overview

Posted by: Teddy Michaels   in Health and Well Being

by Arnold Villagomez

It’s a mystery to many as to how celebrities garnered their gorgeous smiles. While they might like you to believe via natural means, most utilized the services of a dentist. Not just any dentist, but rather a cosmetic dentist. Aesthetic dentists work in a field where it is commonplace to serve high-profile clientele. Celebrities are just an example of these A-list clients. Among the large number of services which cosmetic dentist’s offer, one of their most popular offerings is without question dental veneers. Veneers have been used for decades to provide relief to those suffering from tooth discoloration, chips, and gaps. More recently, many offices have extended financing to their clients in hopes of making the procedure more affordable. Below we will be taking a closer look at this procedure and what it has to offer patients in return for a rather substantial investment.

Veneers are essentially thin wafers of porcelain or some composite material that are fixed to a patient’s teeth with a bonding agent. The patient’s teeth are prepared before the bonding actually takes place. Once the procedure is complete, the patient can enjoy pearly white, natural teeth for years to come. In order to prepare the teeth, the dentist will need to remove some tooth enamel. The removal process will makes space for the additional thickness of the veneers. It will also give them an optimal surface to bond to, since the enamel removal will create a rough surface. Composite veneers do not require as much work for installation as porcelain veneers do. They can be complete on-site without the need for dental lab work. Since they are made of a more inexpensive material as well, they can prove much more affordable. However, porcelain veneers are substantially more durable than composite veneers and tend to have an increased lifespan.

Dentists are careful as to who they perform this procedure on. Since a patient cannot cease using veneers once they have been installed, dentists will not typically perform work on patient’s who have limited tooth deformities. A small amount of discoloration and a few tooth gaps are typically not sufficient grounds for approval. In such circumstances, the cosmetic dentist will recommend another course of action.

Some patients with severe tooth discoloration may be good candidates for veneers. The veneers will mask any stains and discoloration on the teeth. Since veneers are stain-resistant, the patient need not worry about their teeth relapsing to a discolored state. Although not a permanent solution, a dentist might advise that a patient undergo a teeth whitening procedure to correct the discoloration. This sort of treatment can be effective, however, requires follow up visits to ensure that results last.

Treatments closely related to that of the dental veneer procedure have recently emerged. Lumineers, also thin porcelain sheets, can be utilized by patients in correcting their smile. These veneers are far thinner than veneers and hence accommodate less preparation work. This can mean less pain for the patient. However, this can come at the lost of reduced bonding strength as well as vulnerability to tooth decay.

In certain circumstances, Lumineers can create small areas where bacteria can accumulate and thus the formation of caries can begin. A prominent area where this can occur is at the intersection of the upper teeth with the gum line. When a sufficient amount of preparation work is completed, these veneers can seamlessly transition into the gum line, mitigating any problems with decay. These veneers come with a hefty twenty year warranty, so your investment is protected. However, if you opt to undergo this procedure, you will need to conduct additional research as not all dentists administer this procedure.

Dental veneers can vary in cost depending on a number of factors. Generally speaking, most patients pay $1,500+ per each individual tooth. Some offices provide financing to patients. You will have to consult your chosen cosmetic dentist for the terms of the financing that his or her office provides.
